GRAND BASSAM, Ivory Coast (Reuters) - Ivory Coast soldiers armed with assault rifles patrolled the deserted beaches of a resort town on Monday, a day after gunmen from al Qaeda's North African branch killed 18 people, the third major al Qaeda attack in West Africa in four months. PARIS (Reuters) - France's foreign and interior ministers will travel to Ivory Coast on Tuesday to offer support after al Qaeda's North African arm killed 16 people, including a French national, at a beach resort there on Sunday, diplomatic sources said.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Critics of Chancellor Angela Merkel's open-door refugee policies called on her to change course after voters in three regional elections punished her conservatives and flocked to a new anti-immigration party that wants German borders closed.
