BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Burundi's year-on-year inflation rate eased to 10.1 percent in July from 11.4 percent in June as food prices rose at a slower pace on local markets, the statistics office said on Thursday.
The food price index rose 11.5 percent in the past twelve months to July versus 14.4 percent in the year to June, data from the Institute of Economic Studies and Statistics (ISTEEBU) showed.
Food is one of the key components used in measuring inflation rate in the coffee producer nation of over 8 million people.
The central African nation's government predicts headline inflation to reach 9 percent this year.
