BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Burundi's president registered on Friday to run for a third term, his spokesman said, a move likely to stoke anger among protesters opposing his bid for another five years in office.

BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Protesters burned a man alive in Burundi's capital on Thursday, saying he was a member of the ruling party's youth wing which had attacked them during their rallies against the president's bid for a third term, a witness said.

BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Protesters were back on the streets of Burundi's capital on Thursday and one person was killed after President Pierre Nkurunziza told demonstrators to halt rallies against his third term bid, promising to make it his last if he wins.

BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Burundi's president, confronted by violent protests that have left a dozen people reported dead and driven thousands to flee the country, said on Wednesday that if he is re-elected in June he will not run for office again.

BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Nearly 40,000 refugees have fled Burundi to neighboring Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the last month, amid protests against President Pierre Nkurunziza's bid for a third term, the United Nations said on Wednesday.
