BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Burundi said on Tuesday it had released six juveniles who were part of a group of 11 students jailed last week for allegedly defacing a photograph of President Pierre Nkurunziza in a school text book.

NAIROBI (Reuters) - Kenya's opposition said late on Tuesday it would defy a ban imposed by the government on its protests against the electoral commission after an escalation of deadly violence at rallies held every Monday since early April.

NAIROBI (Reuters) - At least two protesters were shot dead in a rally against Kenya's election body in the western city of Kisumu on Monday, an opposition official said, as demonstrators also gathered on the streets of the capital.

NAIROBI (Reuters) - Kenya's main opposition coalition said on Friday it will resume protests next week against alleged bias in the country's election commission, ending a one-week break for a dialogue that did not happen.
