LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambia's opposition leader accused the government on Thursday of using repressive laws to restrict his side's campaigns and said the closure of a critical newspaper would prevent free and fair elections in August.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A member of South Africa's wealthy Gupta family on Wednesday denied allegations of undue political influence, including offering cabinet positions, in its first public comment on charges that have plagued President Jacob Zuma's time in office.

LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambia's electoral commission has threatened to bar campaigning ahead of elections on Aug. 11 due to growing cases of violence, after clashes between supporters of the ruling Patriotic Front party and the main opposition United Party for National Development.
