YANGON (Reuters) - About 100 Myanmar journalists gathered signatures on Friday for a petition denouncing the recent arrests of four reporters that raised concern about the freedom of the media despite a transition from full military rule.

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Five suicide bombers attacked Lebanese soldiers as they raided two Syrian refugee camps in the Arsal area at the border with Syria on Friday and a sixth militant threw a hand grenade at a patrol, the army said.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United Nations Security Council on Thursday approved a phased drawdown of peacekeepers in Sudan's Darfur region that could almost halve the number of troops over the next year if conditions are conducive and the government is cooperative.
