UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - African states want the United Nations to set up a trust fund to finance a force to fight Boko Haram in Nigeria and called on the international community to supply intelligence and equipment, according to a draft U.N. resolution.

FOTOKOL, Cameroon (Reuters) - Boko Haram is carrying out ethnic reprisals against Arabic speakers in northern Nigeria, accusing them of aiding Chad's army fighting against the Islamist group, military officers and residents say.
JOHANNESBURG/DAKAR (Reuters) - Nigeria has brought in hundreds of mercenaries from South Africa and the former Soviet Union to give its offensive against Boko Haram a shot in the arm before a March 28 election, according to regional security, defence and diplomatic sources.

YAOUNDE (Reuters) - The United States supports the creation of a West African force of up to 10,000 troops to fight Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram, a U.S. defense official said on Wednesday.

PARIS (Reuters) - France is increasing its West African Barkhane counter-insurgency force to support regional forces fighting Boko Haram, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Wednesday.
