ABUJA, Nigeria (Reuters) - Nigeria will do what it can to rescue more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram two years ago in the northeast, President Muhammadu Buhari said on Thursday as he met the first girl who had managed to flee the jihadists.

ABUJA, Nigeria (Reuters) - The Nigerian army is moving in to Boko Haram's final stronghold in the Sambisa forest to rescue more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls after one managed to flee the jihadists who have held them for over two years, a provincial governor said on Thursday.

ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigeria's president Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a new investigation into the kidnapping of 219 schoolgirls by Islamist group Boko Haram in April 2014 from the town of Chibok, the presidency said on Thursday.

ABUJA (Reuters) - Parents of 200 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist rebels in April said they were appealing directly to the United Nations for help after losing hope that the Nigerian government would rescue them.

ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan promised on Monday that more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist militants would soon return home, teenage Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai said after meeting him.
