ON BOARD THE OPEN ARMS, Mediterranean (Reuters) - The wreck of the raft was a dot on the sea but as our rescue boat approached we saw a woman make an effort to wave, so at least there was life.

ALGECIRAS, Spain (Reuters) - Spanish rescue boat Open Arms arrived in the southern port of Algeciras on Thursday with 87 migrants the crew said they had rescued off the coast of Libya.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libya's coast guard picked up 574 migrants from inflatable boats in three operations on Monday off the North African country's coast, naval forces spokesman Ayoub Qassem told Reuters.

ON BOARD OPEN ARMS, Mediterranean (Reuters) - A woman and a boy adrift in the Mediterranean died just hours before help reached their damaged dinghy, Spanish rescuers said on Tuesday after finding a second woman alive in the vessel, which had been carrying migrants towards Europe.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Eight migrants including six children were found dead on Monday after suffocating from petrol fumes while packed into a lorry container on the west Libyan coast, authorities said.
