CAIRO (Reuters) - The head of a parliament aligned with forces trying to seize the Libyan capital Tripoli from the internationally backed government said on Thursday there could be no peace talks until they had captured the city.

PARIS (Reuters) - Libyan eastern commander Khalifa Haftar, speaking on Wednesday with French President Emmanuel Macron, ruled out a ceasefire and said he wanted to rid the capital of militias that had "infested" the U.N.-backed government, a French presidential official said.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Reuters) - The White House said on Friday that President Donald Trump spoke by phone on Monday to Libyan military commander Khalifa Haftar and discussed "ongoing counterterrorism efforts and the need to achieve peace and stability in Libya."
