SIRTE, Libya (Reuters) - Libyan pro-government forces have freed five foreign nationals held by Islamic State in Sirte after heavy fighting in their battle to capture the final district of the city, a local official said on Thursday.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - A Libyan faction opposed to the U.N.-backed government has taken over a parliamentary headquarters in Tripoli and called for a new government, in a challenge to Western plans to bring together competing armed groups.

SIRTE, Libya (Reuters) - Libyan pro-government forces have advanced into another area in their battle to liberate Sirte from Islamic State in fighting that killed 14 of their troops, military officials and hospital sources said.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libyan pro-government forces are advancing into the last area controlled by Islamic State in the coastal city of Sirte, surrounding the militants after a five-month campaign backed by U.S. air strikes, military officials say.

MISRATA, Libya (Reuters) - Next to the rusting shell cases outside Misrata's museum of Libya's 2011 uprising is a new addition: a scaffold used by Islamic State in Sirte to display bodies of executed prisoners, mounted on a would-be suicide bomber's captured truck.
