TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libyan military forces said on Tuesday they had recaptured one of the main checkpoints south of the city of Misrata from Islamic State, reversing some of the gains the militant group made earlier this month.

VIENNA (Reuters) - World powers including the United States are ready to consider demands from Libya's new unity government for exemptions from a U.N. arms embargo to help take control of the lawless country, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday.

MISRATA, Libya (Reuters) - Forces in western Libya are preparing to advance on the city of Sirte, seized by Islamic State last year, their spokesman said, pushing ahead with plans for a counter-attack after the Islamists made territorial gains in the last week.
