LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambia's electoral commission has threatened to bar campaigning ahead of elections on Aug. 11 due to growing cases of violence, after clashes between supporters of the ruling Patriotic Front party and the main opposition United Party for National Development.

LUSAKA (Reuters) - An amendment to Zambia's constitution allowing ministers to stay in office after parliament dissolves has sparked a row ahead of elections in August, in which President Edgar Lungu and his Patriotic Front party are seen facing a stiff challenge.

LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambian police arrested an opposition leader on Monday for saying President Edgar Lungu used public funds on a holiday last year, a police spokeswoman said, in a further sign of rising political tension ahead of August elections.
