RABAT (Reuters) - Setting deadlines for elections in Libya is counterproductive as the political players need to agree first on a political solution to end the country's conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.

PARIS (Reuters) - Rival Libyan factions agreed on Tuesday on a declaration that would create a political framework to pave the way for U.N.-backed elections in December to end the country's seven-year-old conflict.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - The head of Libya's U.N.-backed government has called for parliamentary and presidential elections in March 2018, although his proposals will likely have to compete with other Libyan and international efforts to bring an end to the country's conflict.
